Water Exposure

We recommend removing your jewellery before swimming, bathing, showering, or soaking in water.

Pools & Hot Tubs

Chlorine and other pool chemicals can gradually dull gemstones and damage precious metals, particularly sterling silver and 14k gold-filled jewellery. Over time, chemical exposure may weaken stone settings and accelerate natural wear.

Ocean & Saltwater

Saltwater can speed up tarnishing and corrosion of precious metals. As it dries, salt residue may remain on your jewellery, trapping moisture and reducing its natural shine.

If your jewellery is accidentally exposed to saltwater or chlorinated water, rinse it with fresh water, gently pat it dry, and polish it with a soft jewellery cloth.

Chemicals & Everyday Products

To help preserve your jewellery, avoid contact with harsh chemicals, including:

  • Household cleaning products
  • Bleach and chlorine
  • Solvents and detergents
  • Gardening chemicals
  • Hand sanitiser

These substances can cause tarnishing, corrosion, and damage to both metals and gemstones.

Beauty Products

Lotions, sunscreen, perfumes, makeup, and hair products can leave residue on your jewellery over time, reducing its brilliance.

For best results, apply your skincare and beauty products first, allow them to dry, then put on your jewellery as the finishing touch.

Exercise & Physical Activity

Remove your jewellery before exercising, lifting weights, gardening, or any activity where it may be knocked, caught, or placed under pressure.

Repeated impact may:

  • Bend or distort rings
  • Loosen stone settings
  • Scratch metal surfaces
  • Chip or crack natural gemstones
  • Stretch, catch, or break chains

If you're ever unsure whether an activity is jewellery-friendly, it's always safest to remove your piece first.

Sleeping

Although many people enjoy wearing their jewellery every day, we recommend removing it before sleeping.

Overnight wear can place unnecessary pressure on rings and settings, while chains may become tangled, stretched, or damaged.

Cleaning

Regular, gentle cleaning will help keep your jewellery looking its best.

Hand Cleaning

  • Wipe your jewellery regularly with a soft jewellery polishing cloth.
  • If needed, wash gently in warm water with a small amount of mild soap.
  • Use a soft toothbrush to carefully clean around stone settings and detailed areas.
  • Rinse thoroughly and dry completely with a soft, lint-free cloth before storing or wearing.

Ultrasonic Cleaning

Ultrasonic cleaners are generally suitable for plain sterling silver and 14k gold-filled jewellery without gemstones, such as stacking rings, plain bands, and chain necklaces.

When gemstones are present, however, ultrasonic cleaning is not always recommended. While some gemstones tolerate ultrasonic cleaning well, others may be damaged by the vibrations or existing internal fractures.

Generally Safe

  • Diamond
  • Ruby
  • Sapphire
  • Garnet
  • Spinel
  • Quartz varieties (including amethyst, citrine, smoky quartz, and rock crystal)
  • Topaz

  • Opal
  • Pearl
  • Turquoise
  • Lapis Lazuli
  • Moonstone
  • Tanzanite
  • Fluorite
  • Labradorite

If you're unsure whether your gemstone is suitable for ultrasonic cleaning, hand cleaning with warm water, mild soap, and a soft brush is always the safest option.

Storage

When not wearing your jewellery, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

To help minimise tarnishing:

  • Store each piece separately to prevent scratching.
  • Keep jewellery in a jewellery box or soft pouch.
  • Avoid humid environments, such as bathrooms.

Sterling silver naturally oxidises over time. This is a normal characteristic of the metal and can be easily restored using a silver polishing cloth.

About 14k gold-filled jewellery

14k gold-filled jewellery offers the beauty of solid gold with exceptional durability. With proper care, it can maintain its finish for many years.

  • Gold filled is a solid layer of real gold overlay that is bonded to a jeweller’s brass inner core. They are with 1/20th 14 karat gold, meaning, it is 5% 14 karat gold by weight with a brass inner core.
  • It is waterproof and hypoallergenic and a great option for people with sensitive skin. However, everyone reacts differently to metals.
  • Gold filled is different to Gold Plated. Gold filled metal has almost 100x more gold than gold plated jewellery. It will not rub off or tarnish easily and is perfect for everyday wear.

Caring for 14k Gold-Filled Jewellery

To help preserve your jewellery:

  • Avoid prolonged exposure to perfumes, lotions, sunscreen, chlorine, saltwater, and household chemicals.
  • Remove jewellery before cleaning, exercising, swimming, or heavy manual work.
  • Wipe your jewellery after wearing to remove sweat and natural body oils.

Like all well-loved jewellery, subtle signs of wear will naturally develop over time and are considered part of normal use rather than manufacturing faults.

How to wear and care Reiki-infused jewellery

By caring for your Reiki infused jewellery with mindfulness and respect, you can continue to benefit from its positive energy and healing properties over time.

Handling with Intention

Wear and treat your Reiki infused jewellery intentionally, focusing on the healing or energetic qualities you wish to enhance.

Cleansing Regularly

Cleanse your jewellery regularly to clear any stagnant or unwanted energy it may have absorbed. The following methods are safe for most gemstone jewellery:

  • Smudging: Purify your jewellery by passing it through the sacred smoke of incense, palo santo, or sage to clear away stagnant energy.
  • Moonlight: Place your jewellery under the light of the full moon overnight to gently cleanse and recharge its energy.

Recharging

After cleansing, hold it in your hands and visualise white light or invoke positive intentions to replenish its energy.
